Let me take you to 2016... I had just launched a brand with my best friend and cousin, a lifestyle brand named Marzam (growth in Amharic). We launched with the intent to sell clothing, accessories, and home goods. After exploring numerous facilities and artisan workshops, we ultimately decided on chokers from Ethiopia.
Even then, I knew fabric was at the forefront of what I gravitated toward. The sketches I’ve highlighted here today are from 2016 and showcase my ideas translated into sketches, before the advancement of AI. I’ve also highlighted sketches from one of the founders, which show her designs of Ethiopian chokers brought to life. Wow, how far we’ve come almost ten years later. To know where I’ve come from and where I am today with the launch of House of Báhel makes me reflect in such a profound way.
